    PGA TOUR TournamentPebble Beach

    Event:
    AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

    Location:
    Pebble Beach, California

    Date:
    February 11 – 14, 2010

    Golf Courses:
    Pebble Beach Golf Links
    Spyglass Hill Golf Club
    Monterey County Club

    Purse:
    $6,200,000.00

    2009 Winner:
    Dustin Johnson

PGA TOUR AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am:
Lots of buzz is going around this year for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Why? Mainly due to the fact Pebble Beach is hosting this year’s U.S. Open. With the result of such, all the top players on the PGA TOUR throughout the world are playing in this week’s event. Usually, this event does not get all the top players since it is known to have long and slow rounds, 5+ hours at most times. Having such long rounds is usually a pet-peeve for the top players in the game, but this year they are willing to accept it since this venue is hosting one of the four majors this coming year.

Why the long rounds? Well, mainly because this is more of a celebrity pro-am and not your usual PGA TOUR event. Yes, many top celebrities play in this event which is great for the spectator fans and from a promotional piece, but several of them are not great golfers. While most PGA TOUR professionals are +4 to +8 handicaps, several of the celebrities range from a 9 to 23 handicap. Hence, the long rounds. Most PGA TOUR players turn their heads when some of these celebrity amateurs swing the club, it can get pretty ugly out there at times.

But, for this year the best in the game are willing to put up with the slow pace to get some rounds in for preparation of this year’s U.S. Open. Although most of the top players on the PGA TOUR take this event off their schedule, I know they still enjoy playing Pebble Beach. Pebble Beach is one of the top golf courses in the world, and probably the most recognized. Pebble Beach sits on the Monterey Peninsula which over looks the Pacific Ocean. The oceanfront views are breath taking and it’s a special place in all golfers’ hearts, including the best in the world.

There is only one piece missing in this week’s tournament. Yes, you guessed it, Tiger Woods. Tiger is still missing in action, but is hopefully expected to return soon! The PGA TOUR needs Tiger, and Tiger needs the PGA TOUR.

    Tony’s Prediction:
Lakers Beat Point Spread and I take the Over

    Location:
    Los Angeles, California

    Date:
Tuesday February 16, 2010 at 10:30pm Eastern Time

    Golden State Warriors:
The Golden State Warriors have been struggling this entire year. They are currently last in their division with a 9 game losing streak, and definitely not what they are looking for going against the leader in their division, the Los Angeles Lakers. Monta Ellis has been having a great year, averaging 26.2 points per game, but the Warriors defense has been struggling, giving up 111.6 points per game to their opponents.

    Los Angeles Lakers:
The Los Angeles Lakers are off to another great year. They are currently leading their division and have the second best record in the NBA behind the Cavaliers. Kobe Bryant is leading the way once again for the Lakers, averaging 28.0 points per game, yet all 5 starters are averaging double digit numbers. Sounds like a formula for success if you ask me!

Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction:
The Warriors face the Lakers in Los Angeles for a Pacific in-division battle. Golden State needs to step up their defense in general if they want to start winning games, especially against a team like the Lakers. The Warriors also need to get more players involved offensively, as the Lakers do. I don’t foresee the Lakers having any trouble in this game against the Warriors, so I predict the Lakers to beat the point spread in a high scoring game.

    Tony’s Prediction:
Lakers Beat Point Spread and I take the Over

New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts

    Super Bowl XLIV Scoring Results:
New Orleans Saints – 31; Super Bowl XLIV Champions
    Indianapolis Colts – 17

    New Orleans Saints:
The New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees played phenomenal against the Indianapolis Colts in Miami to win Super Bowl XLIV, 31-17. Drew Brees went 32-39 with 288 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a passer rating of 114.5. Those sound like Super Bowl Champion quarterback numbers to me!

It seemed to me the Saints came into this game with passion and played with heart, unlike the Colts who seemed to play with mechanics and robotics, especially Payton Manning. Sean Payton and his coaching staff deserve lots of credit for their Super Bowl win. They did an outstanding job of coaching and managing this game, their style of play, offensive and defensive decision making, play calling, and taking risks at strategic moments during the game!

    Indianapolis Colts:
The Indianapolis Colts and Payton Manning played well, but not good enough to earn the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Manning went 31-45 with 333 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception, and a passer rating of 88.5. Those numbers aren’t too bad, but definitely not good enough to beat the Saints.

To me, the Colts looked flat and tired, especially Payton Manning in the tired category. You could just see it in his eyes, as if he got 3 hours of sleep each night for a week leading into the Super Bowl, knowing everything rides on his shoulders. The Colts were going to win or lose this game solely on the performance of Payton Manning. That is what I predicted in my pre-Super Bowl article post, and the results were just that with Manning throwing an interception towards the end of the game which was run back for a touchdown.

New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts Game Results; Super Bowl XLIV:
In my opinion, the Saints vs Colts game lived up to a great Super Bowl. Yes, the game didn’t end with a game winning field goal, but it was a very close game until the last minute. The Colts still had an opportunity to score a touchdown with a minute to go and hope for recovering an onside kickoff. And, once the nerves settled for both teams after the first half, the teams did end up scoring 32 total points in the second half.

For those who read my Super Bowl prediction article, you noticed I was cheering for the Saints to win but thought the Colts were the better team and would win in the end. Well, looks like I was wrong on the winning part. However, you would have also read on how I thought Payton Manning is an overrated quarterback mainly due to his poor postseason performances. That part I was right about and I should have known better to pick his team in winning Super Bowl XLIV.

New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts After Game Thoughts:

Well, another great NFL football season has closed its chapter. What a great year it was and what a great overall Super Bowl. The venue in Miami is always a fun location, their were lots of hilarious commercials, the halftime show by the Who was entertaining with the mesmerizing stage and green laser lights, along with the actual game itself with the Saints and Colts. It was fitting to have the two #1 seeds in the NFL battle for a Super Bowl Championship, and it was only more fitting to see the New Orleans Saints come out on top! The Saints football organization deserved and earned the prestigious championship, and the fans and city of New Orleans deserved this even more!!!
