Being a huge golf fan, I was extremely impressed once again with the overall tournament, and it was very exciting to watch Matt Kuchar hold the Waterford Crystal trophy at the end of 72-holes. For those who watched, Kuchar made a spectacular birdie on the par-5 16th hole just after Rickie Fowler made a spectacular birdie putt on #17 to get within 3 shots. Matt then 3-putted the 17th green for a bogey to get Fowler within 2 shots. Just after Kuchar made bogey on #17, Rickie knocked it within about 10 feet on #18 for a potential third birdie in a row to close his round and get within 1 shot. However, Rickie pushed the putt just enough to lip out on the right side, giving Matt Kuchar a two shot cushion going into the last hole. Kuchar ended up paring the final hole to win by 2 shots, but it felt much closer.

In the end there was a four way tie for second place but young PGA TOUR standout Rickie Fowler gave us something exciting to watch, and almost won back-to-back prestigious golf tournaments with the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte and THE PLAYERS. It wasn’t Rickie time for this year’s PLAYERS, but he will be very exciting to watch as he continues to explode through the gates.

This was a huge win for Matt Kuchar, especially since his parents live right up the road from TPC Sawgrass and a course he has played a so many times. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t like Matt, and it’s nice to see the American Flag once again hung high in the circle of Champions. It has been four years since an American Flag has been blowing in the wind in the exclusive winner of champions. Congrats Matt!!

Denver Nuggets:
The Denver Nuggets didn’t have the best NBA season this year, but they sure are giving the Lakers all they can handle in the first round of the playoffs. All that matters is how you play in the post season, at least for those teams that made the playoffs, and the Nuggets are awful hot right now when it counts.

Los Angeles Lakers:
The Los Angeles Lakers sure are struggling this post season. I think most experts didn’t anticipate this series being as close as it has been. Other than the first game, it seems the Lakers either win by 4 points or lose by 15, not what the doctor ordered. It sounds like if the Lakers lose Game 7, there will be big changes happening on the team in the off season.

Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction:
The Denver Nuggets will be heading to Los Angeles for Game 7 to battle against the Lakers in search of advancing to the next round in the 2012 NBA Playoffs. Although the Lakers have been struggling immensely in the first round of the playoffs, I don’t predict this being much of a game on their home court. I foresee the Lakers winning this game by a wide margin in a high scoring game.

Oklahoma City Thunder:
The Thunder has had another fabulous year and is leading the Mavericks 2 games to none in the first round of the playoffs. What surprises me however is they barely won the first two games. They won the first game by a measly 1 point, 99-98, and won the second game by three points, 102-99. Not good news if you are a Oklahoma City fan heading to Dallas.

Dallas Mavericks:
The Mavericks have not had the best regular season, but are showing strong potential in the post season. Dallas barely lost their first two games, and now they will be at home in which they should make a clean run. This series might go the distant which I believe will surprise most NBA fans.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Dallas Mavericks Thunder Prediction:
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a two game lead going into Dallas for the first round of the NBA playoffs. Game 3 should definitely favor the Mavericks being at home court and all. Since the first two games were surprisingly close in Oklahoma City, I predict this game to be somewhat of a blow out favoring the Mavs. Mavs beat the spread on this game in a high scoring battle.

Several experts picked the Chicago Bulls to win it all this year, and they easily could have with Derrick Rose healthy. The Bulls only challenge would have been facing the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Championship, but with home field advantage they easily could have won that series and ultimately an NBA Championship. In my opinion, no team in the Western Conference would have beaten the Bulls in the Championship Series, not even the San Antonio Spurs.

With another year’s experience for the entire Chicago team, including Derrick Rose who needs the experience the most, the Bulls would have been extremely tough to beat in the 2012 playoffs. Now, with Derrick out the remaining of the season, the Heat should have the best chance at getting an NBA ring. I would be surprised now if LeBron doesn’t finally win his first NBA title, and I see the Heat winning many more in the coming years.

New York Knicks:
The New York Knicks finished with an undesirable 36-30 record, with a 14-19 road record, but they did have their superstars sit out several of their games due to injuries and off the court issues. Now that it’s crunch time with the playoffs starting, I do think we will see a completely new level of play from the Knicks.

Miami Heat:
The Miami Heat had an overall solid year with the fourth best record in the NBA, 46-20, and the best home record in the league, along with the Spurs at 28-5. The Big 3, James, Wade and Bosh, are all healthy and I foresee them making another great run at an NBA Championship. With this first game being on the Heat’s home court, I don’t see them losing this opening game.

New York Knicks vs Miami Heat Prediction:
The New York Knicks will be playing the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs. In my opinion, the Heat got a very tough draw in their first round match-up against the Knicks. New York will be no push over, and should give the Heat all they can handle throughout this series. With that said, I still predict the Heat beating the Knicks in this first game, although I anticipate it being closer than most predict in a high scoring offensive game.

The new owner led by none other than NBA legend and basketball Hall of Famer, Magic Johnson, seems to have management and leadership on the right track under his oversight. Having “Magic” might just be what the Dodgers needed.

Milwaukee Brewers:
The Milwaukee Brewers on the other hand have already started with their struggles. They are currently 4-6 with the second worse home field record in the entire league at 1-2. Looks like they might be falling to 1-3 pretty quickly after their game against the Didgers.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction:
The 2012 Major League Baseball Season is well under way with most teams having played 10 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a near perfect record and 9-1, while the Milwaukee Brewers are sub-par at 4-6. Pitchers Billingsley (2-0) for the Dodgers and Gallardo (1-1) with the Brewers are the probable starters for this game. Miami Heat:
The Miami Heat have been pretty solid for most of the year, which was expected now that the new Big 3 have had a year under their belt playing with no another, although the Heat have been struggling a little as of late. A big issue for Miami however has been road games, they are just 16-12 on the road while 24-4 at home, which is the best record in the league by the way. This would be a huge win for Miami to win on the road against the Bulls.

Chicago Bulls:
The Chicago Bulls have been playing very consistent throughout the year, both on the road and at home. They have the best record in the NBA on road games, 21-8, and one of the top records at home, 23-6. Looks like the Bulls will be giving another great run at an NBA Championship, and with team leader Derick Rose having another year of experience under his belt, all teams better watch out for Chicago.

The Miami Heat vs Chicago Bulls is going to be a very exciting and pivotal game for both teams. Not only were there 2 aces on Sunday, but there was also the rarer double-eagle, also known as an albatross. Louis Oosthuizen, former British Open Champion from South Africa, made a double-eagle 2 on the par-5 second hole. What an amazing shot it was, and it created early excitement throughout the golf course. After that shot, many thought this is Louis’ day and his tournament to win. However, playing partner Bubba Watson had something else to say about it. As Louis was making miraculous putts/par putt saves, I don’t think anybody thought he would be beaten. It seemed like every chance Bubba was in the driver seat, Louis would do something phenomenal to keep him at bay. But, in the end, Bubba was the one wearing the Green Jacket.

As usual, most fans were rooting for Phil Mickelson to win his fourth Green Jacket, but after he made his second triple bogey of the week early on Sunday, the wind in his sail started to diminish. Phil still had his chances, but seemed to leave every important putt just short of the hole.

After 72-holes only Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson were at the top of the leader board at -10. They both pared the first playoff hole on #18, but Bubba hit a miraculous shot out of the woods on the second playoff hole at #10 which untimely got him the win. Bubba was very emotional after his win, as he should be, and it’s great to see a younger and very exciting player to watch, win The Masters.
