Stirling’s Former Girlfriends Come out of the Woodwork For Slice of the Pie

A woman claiming that she had an affair with New York Clippers owner Donald Sterling has said in a new lawsuit that he made derogatory comments to her about Black people.  Maiko Maya King – who says that she was involved with Sterling from 2005 – 2011 – is suing Sterling for racist remarks, saying that insulted her former African American husband by asking her:  How could you be married to a black man?”  He also allegedly said about her kids, “Why would you bring black people into the world?”

It is believed that more woman will come forward in the hope of getting their 15 minutes of fame or as hopefuls for a potential piece of the money pie that could result from the Sterling case.

In recent days, the NBA approved a potential deal struck between Sterling’s wife, Shelly and former Microsoft Steve Ballmer for the sale of the Clippers for $2 billion.   As co-owner of the NBA team, Sterling has the potential to pocket $1 billion, however he has vowed to fight the deal and has, instead filed a federal lawsuit against the league and Commissioner Adam Silver, demanding damages in excess of $1 billion.

The Guardian quotes a reasonable source who has said that Sterling was stripped of his ability to act as co-trustee in the Ballmer deal  after he was deemed “mentally incapacitated” and “suffering from dementia” by two neurologists.   It was found that he showed an “inability to conduct business affairs in a reasonable and normal manner”, and as such could not be party to the terms of the deal.   The lawsuit filed by Sterling and his lawyers states that Sterling does not want to sell the team.  He has the option of appealing to the California Probate Court to have his rights in the team reinstated.
